Our story so far.
So we left our former youth theatre group in October. It was a big decision but the right one. The plan wasn't too start our own group. We just couldn't stay with the old group because of safeguarding issues the committee we're not taking seriously. But we had many youngsters who wanted to follow us. So it seemed the right thing to do was start our own group. And that's where Utopia Unlimited was born.
We decided we better start off small so we thought we would do regular monthly Theatre groups and socials where we would build up to putting on a show in the Buxton fringe. Fortunately, we had a fair few people follow us from the other theatre group. But we thought we would aim this one towards neurodiversity and inclusivity. We thought we would put on Trail by Jury as our first show. It's only 45 minutes long and it introduces Gilbert and Sullivan quite nicely. I have to admit I have only seen trial twice and have never been in it so it is a new show for me.
We had a Halloween party for our first social. My idea so we could get some professional picture sorted for the website. Although the professional pictures never particularly happened, it was a really good night. It showed us that we had a keen cast with lots of talent.
So we built committee. Had auditions and have built a cast. Now is just the time to build Utopia up And introduce it to young people. We have had three socials and two theatre workshops. And that's you. Caught up with the Utopia story.
